Teacher of two-year-olds in January, navigating public restrooms in Africa with zero running water, or teaching first grade during a global pandemic… I’m not sure where I’ve encountered the most germs. One thing is certain: I’m always looking for ways to keep my family—and myself—healthy!

Here are 5 practical ways to battle cold and flu season for you and your little germ monsters (or children, as they’re formally known 🙃).

1. A Spoonful of Honey

Specifically, Immunity-Booster Honey with Propolis, Turmeric & Ginger.

Propolis helps honeybees stay healthy and can do the same for humans! Packed with natural germ-fighting power, it helps defend the body against viruses, bacteria, and fungi. It’s also a natural antihistamine, perfect for easing seasonal allergies. My kids love it as a morning treat, and during my travels, I discovered Björn’s Honey—I won’t go back to anything else. Their gift sets and deals throughout the year are amazing!

2. A Relaxing Bath

Specifically, a detox bath.

Here’s my favorite recipe, perfect for kids and adults alike:

Even without a specific illness, this soak helps release toxins, calm inflammation, and restore minerals. For kids, it’s a “play bath” with candles, spa music, and a good book—while for me, it’s a mini retreat. Pro tip: keep water nearby to stay hydrated!

3. A Cup of Cider

Specifically, apple cider with a packet of Emergen-C.

Emergen-C is packed with Vitamin C, B vitamins, zinc, calcium, and potassium to support immune health and energy. While it’s not a cure for colds or the flu, it helps if your body is low on nutrients. I love sipping this warm beverage on cold mornings or when I feel that first tickle in my throat—it’s comfort in a cup!

4. Get Outside!

Specifically, where the grass is green and the sky is blue.

Fresh air does wonders for both kids and adults. Outdoor time reduces stress, boosts Vitamin D (supporting white blood cell production), and keeps everyone moving. Stress can negatively impact immunity, so this is a simple but powerful tool. 5. Simply Put—Wash Your Hands

Specifically, frequently, for 20 seconds, with warm water and good scrubbing.

During cold and flu season, I wash my hands so often they’re dry and cracked! Upgrading my soap makes a huge difference—moisturizing, germ-fighting soaps encourage me to wash more often. I now actually look forward to using my favorite Dove soap at home and work!

These quirky little tricks have helped me survive some of the germiest adventures—and I hope they keep your family healthy, happy, and thriving this cold and flu season! 💪✨

And remember—sometimes it’s the little rituals (a spoonful of honey, a cozy bath, or a simple hand wash) that make the biggest difference. Stay well, friends—and may the germs be ever outsmarted! 😉
