Hands down, my Wonderfold Wagon is my most-used kid gadget. Three years of rolling along and each year it just gets more handy! Since I walk to work and bring both of my kids with me, our W2 Luxe Stroller Wagon sees daily action.

When we welcomed our newest addition, I wasn’t sure if my two-seater Wonderfold could handle both a newborn and a three-year-old. But after some trial and error, we’ve found a foolproof way to make it enjoyable for everyone. From children’s museums to the zoo and nightly walks to the playground, this wagon truly keeps our family moving.

Here are the five hacks that have made all the difference:

1. Handlebar Seat for Baby

All Wonderfold Wagons come with two removable, raised seats that recline. We took one of those seats and secured it to the parent handlebar, then added a removable car seat head support. Voilà—our newborn had the perfect little spot to cruise along safely and comfortably.

We started using this setup when she was just one month old, and it’s worked beautifully for every adventure since.

2. Retractable Canopies (Total Game Changer)

Wonderfold ships their wagons with a standard removable canopy, which worked fine—until we moved one seat to the handlebar. Suddenly, our baby was left without much sun protection.

Enter: the Retractable Canopy add-ons ($102.20). This upgrade was worth every penny. My three-year-old feels like he’s riding in a fort, while my baby up front stays fully protected.

The canopies:

  • Unzip for extended coverage
  • Fit into the same pegs as the original
  • Feature mesh side panels for extra airflow

Once our baby graduates to sitting inside the wagon, we’ll just flip the canopy for the best shade.

3. WonderNet Cargo Net = More Storage

More kids = more stuff. Fall mornings are crisp, afternoons are warm, and suddenly we’re hauling layers, blankets, snacks, and mom’s sweatshirt.

The WonderNet Cargo Net attaches to the side of the wagon, freeing up valuable inside space. That means my three-year-old isn’t squished—and we can bring everything we need without playing wagon Tetris.

4. Clip-On Fans & a Portable Sound Machine

I’ve tested a few fans, but this clip-on version is my favorite. The clip is sturdy enough for bumpy sidewalks, the battery lasts, and having one for each kid keeps everyone cool.

For nap time on the go, I clip our Hatch Rest Go Portable Sound Machine to the canopy leg. It has 10 soothing sounds that help drown out big-brother energy so our newborn can snooze peacefully.

5. Pool Towel Clips + Muslin Blanket

My golden rule? Always pack a muslin blanket. It works as:

  • A stroller cover
  • A diaper-changing mat
  • A cozy layer on chilly evenings
  • A makeshift nap curtain

Paired with simple pool towel clips, I can instantly create a dark, cozy nap space for my baby—no matter where we are. These two items live in the rear basket and save us on every outing.

Why It Matters

Getting outside is a BIG part of my parenting (and teaching) philosophy. Fresh air makes us all happier and healthier. With these wagon hacks, managing both a newborn and a three-year-old is not only doable—it’s enjoyable.

If you’re thinking of upgrading your family outings, the Wonderfold Wagon has been a game changer for us. And if you shop through the Wonderfold website, you can save 10% on most wagons with code WINDINTHEUMBRELLA.

Wherever your adventures take you, I hope they’re practically perfect in every way. 🌟
